Gustavo Eydelsteyn Microsoft Windows 7. We've Got It Handled.
Gustavo Eydelsteyn, Co-founder

If you by chance happened to miss the launch of Microsoft Windows 7, some may say "You had to be under a rock" as the TV commercials have been generating a lot of buzz. Not only for the product, but for their creativeness as well. ComponentOne has been a very close Microsoft partner for over 20 years and during that time we've made sure to support the latest technology.

Doc-To-Help was the first to support WinHelp in 1991, provided support for HTML Help as soon as it released, and is one of the few tools that support Help 2.0. Additionally, Doc-To-Help has always supported Microsoft's operating system releases. If you are considering an upgrade to Windows 7, rest easy. Doc-To-Help's next release (due later this month) includes full Windows 7 support. You can always count on Doc-To-Help supporting any operating system update, Microsoft Office version, or Help system Microsoft releases.

Nicky Bleiel, Senior Information Developer

Those who adopt "green" lifestyles try to recycle and reuse as much as possible, preserving resources for future generations. By the nature of what we produce, Tech Comms can't create content that will last for generations to come, but we can create content that is "green" by adopting reuse strategies.

And writing once and reusing many times is not only efficient, it cuts down on errors. One of the best ways to create reusable content is to save content "chunks". Read this article to find out how to create renewable content with Variables.

Q: I author in Word, and when I generate my manual output, the list numbering does not match my original document. How can I fix this?

A: Changing a Doc-To-Help setting will remedy this. From the Home tab, click the Target ribbon group dialog box launcher. In the Help Targets dialog box, choose your Manual Target. In the Advanced section, choose "Always" from the Fix Numbered Lists drop-down. Then rebuild your Manual Target.
