What Do You Need from the Web?
Dan Beall, Product Manager
The number one channel for delivering information to users is the Web. That may be stating the obvious, but it’s worth talking about. Many people are using Microsoft’s Help formats, embedded Help, PDFs, and printed manuals, but the most commonly used platform to share information is the Web.

This is why we're focusing our current efforts on making NetHelp, our Web-based output, as useful as it possibly can be. The next Doc-To-Help release will include a shiny new version that is lighter, faster, and more flexible. Since we're creating this technology for you, I would like to give you the chance to email me and tell me what you want from the Web. Specifically, what would you like a Web-based help system to do? Join the discussion by tweeting with #DocToHelp or by emailing me.

Integrating Google Custom Search into Your NetHelp Outputs
Brad Keller, Sales Consultant
We recently had a customer ask us if it was possible to integrate Google Search functionality into NetHelp targets. The idea behind it is that you replace NetHelp's built-in search technology (and search interface) with the search technology and interface of Google. |

We knew that we had customers that had successfully accomplished this, but we weren't sure exactly how they did it. Ask the Expert

Q: I'd like to provide browser-based Help for my desktop application, but when users try to open the Help, they often receive the message, "This browser has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls, click here for options." This is an extra step my users don't need. Is there any way to stop this from happening?
|
A: Yes, there is a way to stop this security warning from appearing in the browser and blocking the display of your locally installed NetHelp output (Doc-To-Help’s uncompiled HTML browser-based output). This is done by adding the Mark of the Web to every HTML file in the NetHelp Target. This can be done in one click with the Mark of the Web check box in the Help Targets dialog box. More information. |

If you have any additional questions on this subject or any others, please email me. Thanks, Nicky
