Customize the Style Gallery to Create a Collection of Your Favorite Styles
 |
Among the world of technical communication, Microsoft Word has become commonplace. With that in mind, we have designed
Doc-To-Help's editor to deliver a similar user experience to eliminate the learning curve and maximize productivity. |
|
Doc-To-Help's Style Gallery is no exception. The Style
Gallery, located on the Editor tab in the ribbon toolbar, gives you quick access and a preview for commonly used styles. A default
set of styles are displayed, but you can customize it to include any style you use. Start by clicking the dialog box launcher
(the arrow in the lower-right corner), which opens the Manage Styles dialog box. Choose Show all styles from the drop-down, and
select the styles you want to appear in the Style Gallery. You can show any style you have in your style sheet. |

A Great Year Ahead
Gustavo Eydelsteyn, Co-founder
As we begin the second decade of the 21st century,
I can't help but reflect on how Doc-To-Help has evolved and where we plan to take it in 2010.
The current generation of Doc-To-Help is more powerful, easier to use, and more versatile than ever. In 2008, Doc-To-Help saw a complete
interface overhaul and in 2009 Doc-To-Help saw a brand new editor and a truckload of usability enhancements.
|
|
Going into 2010, Doc-To-Help is a leading-edge application that truly is an invaluable tool for documentation writers of any kind. This year
will see even more evolution with items on the slate such as RoboHelp converter improvements, Team Foundation Server integration, overhauled outputs,
and some ground breaking surprises. I can't wait to tell you about these upgrades as more issues of the Tech Connection roll out. So, happy New Year,
and look forward to a spectacular 2010 with Doc-To-Help.

Ask the Expert
Q: Can I create different TOCs for different Targets?
 |
A: Yes, you can create different TOCs for all your Targets if you wish - even two of the same type.
Simply select the Target from the Doc-To-Help Home tab, then open the Contents pane. In the Contents pane toolbar, click the
"Target-specific Table of Contents" button. Now any changes you make to that TOC will be specific to only that Target. |
|
|
To customize the next Target's TOC, select that Target from the Home tab, and repeat. If you decide at any time (or in any Target) that you
would like Doc-To-Help to recreate the TOC that it automatically created for you based on the document structure, just click the
"Rebuild Table of Contents" button in the Contents pane toolbar.
If you have any additional questions on this subject (or any others), please email me at
asktheexpert@doctohelp.com.
Thanks, Nicky
